We understand how important privacy is to you. This Privacy Policy explains how Rename.Tools handles your information. In short: we don't collect any of your data.
Rename.Tools uses a purely browser-side architecture, which means: all file operations are performed locally on your device; your files are never uploaded to any server; file contents, file names, and metadata never leave your browser; the Service works offline after initial load.
We explicitly do not collect: your file contents, file names, or any file metadata; your personal information (name, email, phone, etc.); your device information or browser fingerprint; your IP address or geographic location; your usage behavior or browsing history.
This Service does not persist any user data to remote servers. In your local browser, we only store: language preferences (localStorage); theme settings (localStorage); renaming rule presets you voluntarily save (localStorage). When you close the browser tab, all temporary data (including file lists and current rule configurations) is automatically cleared. You can clear all locally stored data at any time through your browser settings.
This Service only uses essential functional cookies to store your language and theme preferences. These cookies: do not contain any personally identifiable information; are not used for tracking or analytics purposes; are not shared with any third parties; can be deleted at any time through your browser settings.
TMDb API Integration: If you choose to use the media metadata scraping feature, you need to configure a TMDb API key. This key is stored only in your browser's local storage and is not sent to our servers. API calls are made directly from your browser to TMDb servers; we do not participate in or log these communications. Hosting: This website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect standard server logs (such as IP addresses and access times), which are managed by Vercel according to their privacy policy. We do not have access to this data.
Although we don't store your data, we still take the following measures to protect service security: use HTTPS to encrypt all network communications; regularly update dependencies to fix known security vulnerabilities; open source code subject to community review; no use of any third-party tracking or analytics scripts.
This Service is not specifically targeted at children under 13 years of age. Since we do not collect any personal information, there is no issue of collecting children's privacy data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect service changes or legal requirements. Any significant changes will be posted on this page. We recommend periodically reviewing this page to stay informed about our privacy practices.
Since we do not collect or store your personal data, traditional data subject rights (such as access, rectification, deletion) are technically not applicable. However, you can always: clear your browser's local storage to delete all locally saved preferences; choose not to use features that require third-party APIs; review our open source code to verify our privacy claims.
